Foundational Building Blocks

Social-Emotional Development

– Infants (0-12 months): Bonding with caregivers, responsive care, and secure attachment

– Toddlers (1-3 years): Encouraging sharing, turn-taking, and self-expression

– Preschool (3-4 years): Cooperative play, problem-solving, and developing independence

Language and Literacy

– Infants (0-12 months): Singing, talking, and reading aloud to support early communication

– Toddlers (1-3 years): Expanding vocabulary, recognizing pictures and words in books

– Preschool (3-4 years): Letter recognition, storytelling, and early writing skills

Cognitive Development

– Infants (0-12 months): Sensory play and cause-and-effect exploration

– Toddlers (1-3 years): Simple puzzles, color and shape recognition

– Preschool (3-4 years): Counting, sequencing, and hands-on STEM activities

Spiritual Development

– Infants (0-12 months): Experience God’s love through music, quiet moments, and caregiver connection.

– Toddlers (1-3 years): Practice love, kindness, and gratitude through prayer, worship movement, play, and Bible stories.

– Preschool (3-4 years): Engage with God’s Word through play and simple Scripture memorization.

Creative Expression

– Infants (0-12 months): Exposure to music, bright colors, and simple art experiences

– Toddlers (1-3 years): Finger painting, dancing, and singing along with music

– Preschool (3-4 years): Arts and crafts, pretend play, and storytelling

Nutrition

– Infants (0-12 months): Balanced meals and the exploration of tastes and textures.

– Toddlers (1-3 years): Encourage healthy eating habits and explain how food helps our bodies grow.

– Preschool (3-4 years): Learn about food groups, balanced meals, and the importance of hydration. Encourage trying new foods and making healthy choices.

Meet our Director

Devon Garrett

We are thrilled to welcome Devon Garrett as the Director of Compel Academy! She resides in Hernando, MS with her husband and 2 children. Her passions include spending time with her family, working out, and running! With over a decade of experience in early childhood and elementary education, Devon brings a passion for nurturing both students and educators. She has served in a variety of roles in education, developing a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to create thriving, joyful learning environments.

Devon holds an Educational Specialist degree in Accountability and Instructional Leadership, along with a Master’s in Education focused on English Language Learners. Her leadership has consistently been marked by collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to student growth. Whether she’s guiding instructional teams, mentoring new educators, or shaping curriculum with intention, Devon leads with both heart and vision.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I register?

    To apply for enrollment at Compel Academy, simply click the Enrollment Application button at the top of the page.

    • If a spot is available, you will receive a confirmation email along with an invoice to pay

    the $75 registration fee.

    • If all spots are currently filled, you’ll be notified that your child has been placed on our waiting list.

    Submitting an application does not guarantee enrollment. Families will be contacted with their child’s status after review.

  • Full-Time vs. Part-Time Care

    We are currently prioritizing full-time student registration. Once the full-time registration window closes, we will assess availability for part-time enrollment.

    Part-time care may be available for:

    2 days/week – Tuesday & Thursday

    3 days/week – Monday, Wednesday, & Friday

    More information about part-time options will be available in the Fall.

  • Do I still have to pay if my child doesn’t attend for a few weeks?

    To secure your child’s spot, you must be enrolled in either our full-time or part-time program.

    Tuition is paid in full regardless of attendance.

    During the summer, you may unenroll temporarily to avoid tuition for those weeks; however, we cannot guarantee your child’s spot will still be available in the fall.

  • Can I tour the facility before registering?

    Due to ongoing construction of our brand-new facility, we are unable to offer tours before

    registration opens.

    However, we will provide:

    • Sample classroom layouts for each age group

    • Playground renderings

    • Sample classroom schedules

    We look forward to welcoming families for an open house and ribbon cutting once our

    building is complete!

  • What is the cost of tuition?

    Tuition details can be found in our Comprehensive Guide, which will be emailed to you separately. For more information, please email us at info@compel.academy.

    Included in tuition:

    • Breakfast, lunch, and two daily snacks

    • Baby wipes

    • Integrated STEM lessons

    • Enrichment-focused curriculum

    • Daily reports and communication via our app

    • Full-day care (6:30 AM – 6:00 PM)

  • Are there any additional fees?

    Yes. Upon registration, the following fees apply:

    $75 Registration Fee (per student)

    $75 Annual Supply Fee (per student)

  • Do you offer any discounts?

    Yes! We offer a 10% sibling discount for children in the Toddler class and up.

  • What are your class sizes and teacher ratios?

    As a licensed facility, Compel Academy follows the Mississippi State Department of Health

    (MSDH) standards for caregiver-to-child ratios:

    • Infants & Toddlers: 2 teachers for every 10 children

    • 2K: 2 teachers for every 14 children

    • 3K: 1 teacher for every 14 children

    • 4K: 2 teachers for every 20 children

    • Transitional Kindergarten (TK): 1 teacher for every 20 children

    All classrooms are additionally supported by administrative staff and classroom floaters to ensure high-quality care and coverage.

  • Does my child need to be potty trained to attend?

    Yes, we do have potty training expectations by age group:

    4-year-olds must be fully potty trained before starting the program in August.

    3-year-olds must be actively potty training and fully trained by the time they return after

    Christmas break. Children who are not fully potty trained are required to wear pull-ups.
