21 Days of Prayer and Fasting

Twenty One Days

In order to kick off our new year rooted in God’s purpose, as a church we are committing to 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting beginning on Thursday, January 12th !

This is a time to refocus our thoughts, humble ourselves, seek guidance, and trust in God’s plans.
We encourage you to begin praying and asking God to prepare your heart and body for a time of
complete devotion to Him.

6 Steps to Prayer and Fasting

  • Step 1: Decide on a prayer and fasting plan

    Choose a fasting plan that will stretch your faith. If you have never fasted, you will want to start small. You can fast one meal a day or one day per week. Others may want to fast one, two, or three whole weeks. Remember, this is not a competition. This is an opportunity for you to get closer to God and hear His voice

  • Step 2: Read the daily scripture

    Find the assigned daily scripture in your Bible and read the verse in its context. Context simply means you should read the paragraph the verse is a part of, or possibly the entire chapter.

  • Step 3: Think About It

    Think about the questions asked each day. Reflect and respond thoughtfully to each question, and consider writing your answer down.

  • Step 4: Participate

    Here at Compel, we challenge you to participate daily. Start by reading over each daily action item carefully, and then do it!

  • Step 5: Pray the scripture

    Many of the scriptures chosen will help facilitate your prayer time. Incorporate them into your prayers. Trust that God will use them to spark your imagination.

  • Step 6: Write it down

    Write down what God is saying. Don’t be embarrassed by the thoughts, ideas, and dreams that pop into your mind while you are praying.
    Write down the names of 5 people you commit to pray for. Let’s commit to praying for those who are unconvinced about Jesus. Please write down the names of family members, friends, co-workers, and anyone else you believe God is directing you to pray for.

  • Types of Fast

    The Daniel Fast
    Refrain from consuming animal products, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, and refined or processed foods. Eat vegetables, whole grains, fruits, legumes, unleavened bread, and oils.

    Complete Fast
    In this type of fast, you drink only liquids, typically water with light juices as an option. Drink only liquids (you establish the number of days).

    Social Media Fast
    Refrain from using social media during the 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting.

    Partial Fast
    This fast is sometimes called the “Jewish Fast” and involves abstaining from eating any type of food in the morning and afternoon. This can either correlate to specific times of the day, such as 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, or from sunup to sundown.

    Join us every Tuesday from  7 – 9 AM at our Southaven Campus for Tuesday Tithe, a time of prayer and encouragement! This will be a chance to rejuvenate with other believers in prayer as we grow closer to God and lean into what He has for our time of fasting and prayer.
